- My Quantum 200MB hard drive (originally supplied with my
- A3000T) is not being recognized sometimes when I boot the Amiga. This
- is a recent problem after 4 years of steady use. It tends to happen
- after the computer has been turned off for a few days.
-
- On booting, the hard disk activity light stays on steadily,
- and I hear a steady, quiet "tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick"
- from the drive, instead of the usual sound of reading files. This
- goes on for about a minute, and then the "Insert Workbench Disk"
- picture appears on the screen.
-
- After booting from floppy, HDToolBox sees and identifies the
- Quantum drive, but it cannot access it. My SCSI CD-ROM and tape
- drive work fine, however.
-
- After some random number of cold and warm boots, the Amiga
- eventually boots from the Quantum.
-
- Is this problem likely to be the Quantum (my suspicion) or
- could something be wrong with the SCSI?
